There are specially formulated linseed, safflower, and other oils designed to work with these non-traditional oils OPTION 1: Soak, Oil, Vaseline. 1) soak the feet and legs in warm water. 2) dry with a towel, gently exfoliating any dead, loose scales. 3) dip feet and legs in oil, (linseed, mineral, olive, vegetable) which suffocates the mites. 4) wipe off linseed oil and slather affected area with petroleum jelly. The petroleum jelly should be re-applied. HELPFUL TIPS: Boiled Linseed Oil must penetrate the surface of the wood in order to completely dry. Any excess oil remaining on the surface after application should be removed by wiping with a clean, dry lint free rag. An excessive buildup of Boiled Linseed Oil will cause a gummy residue or blotchy finish to form on the surface of the wood Water-mixable linseed or safflower oils can be added to paint to increase flow and slow drying, or they can be used as ingredients when making your own water-mixable mediums.
